Status Update

Kuusilehti reviewed Better Than Wages yesterday. The review contains some interesting perspectives on the album and its relationship to my previous recordings. My comment:

I’m listening to Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde wondering who we are…

Today’s lyric is for

Status Update

what we share is nostalgia

for bad habits

together we begin smoking again

for the love of Us

knowing this much is lost

with the other one gone

I can’t take a second more

of your loyalty

These should be the last drags of our old love

but it’s hard to let go

when nothing’s wrong enough

I don’t recall ever being this close to the edge

of deleting you out of my profile

and changing my status

knowing this makes it public

then we probably can’t go back

for fear of looking like two losers

who can’t break up

These should be the last drags of our old love

but it’s hard to let go

when nothing’s wrong enough

what we share is older than our virtual reality

Where certain darkness stays away

until it’s a fact

maybe the best part of quitting is

the chance of starting all over

we’re the only ones who care where we first met

These should be the last drags of our old love

but it’s hard to let go

when nothing’s wrong enough
